The IKEA Fall 2022 launch centered around the theme of “Find your own flow”. This launch utilized patterns to emphasize breaking out of the norm and finding your true and unique sense of style. The patterns for the graphics were created based on the patterns used in the new product lines for this launch and ranged from Scandinavian to Traditional to Modern. Each pattern utilized in the graphics was carefully chosen to fit the style group of the individual visual media it was being used for. and was paired specifically to help carry the story of media while also creating continutity throughout the store.
Below are examples of ad pages made to be displayed in print and digital in the month prior to the launch to get customers intrigued and excited about the upcoming product launch.
The slides below show the iteration process of creating the graphic elements for a visual media for this launch. We are first supplied dimensions of the space and any corresponding products that may interact or overlap with the graphics (these are shown in white) and then we are tasked with creating to scale mocks showing graphic options using photography, patterns, copy, and color swatches created for the launch. We then go through feedback and discussion phases with our interior designers and visual merchandisers and work our way down to the final design. The final design for this visual media is shown in the last slide.
The lower level of the store, known as the Market Hall, has medias for the launch but does not have wall space to implement large scale graphics like is done for the medias in the Showroom. In order to create continuity and continue the story of the launch the medias in the Market Hall are paired with smaller banners that include the patterns of the launch as well as tag lines. The copy for the tag lines needs to be written with the hero product of the media in mind, as well as the theme of the launch, and the “IKEA tone of voice”.
